Workshop for Africa is dedicated to empowering young African immigrants in the United States through STEM education, career pathways, leadership development, and community service opportunities.
There is a need for more workers in STEM fields in the U.S., which is projected to grow in the coming years. Additionally, African immigrants in the U.S. are more likely to face social disparities and live in poverty, despite the unique perspectives and talents they bring to the workforce.
Moisa Saidu is an experienced international development, peace, and education in emergencies professional, with a strong focus on education, civil society, and human rights. After working for six years with Amnesty International coordinating the Africa Human Rights Education program, Moisa returned to Sierra Leone to reconnect with local teachers and human rights activists and observed the daily struggles they face at the intersection of education, conflict, and health.
